incoming mail

This lovely letter came from Tara in Washington state.  It was filled with vintage stamps, Irish air mail stickers, a recipe for soda bread (must try it soon!) and a letterpress card printed by her very own press Ephemera.  What a treat!  Thanks Tara!

P.S. It was part of her Elevated Envelope project which you can read more about here.

Handmade Holiday

I'm super excited to be taking part in Handmade Holiday this year!  Kid Icarus puts on quite a wonderful craft show filled with stationery, zines, tote bags and more.  I'll be keeping busy preparing many a stamp pack for the show.  Pencil December third in your calendars crafties!

I tell you, the mailboxes in Italy are so very beautiful!  We've posted photographs from our summer holiday and my cousin's wedding.  Editing the images made me miss it even more.

the queen

I fell hard for these queen stamps.  I love how they were printed a different colour for the different denominations.  Killer!

1. Corn on the cob.  Gala apples.  Artichokes.  Market heaven!
2. Two of my favourite summer shoots: this farm wedding and this one at the Drake.
3. Chocolate cake at Terroni with my lovelies.

These vintage beauties were a delightful surprise in my mailbox.  (Thanks Alice!) They make me want to break out our 4x5 view camera.  It's been too long since we last shot with it.

The Regional Assembly of Text

My favourite stationery shop in Vancouver is, hands down, The Regional Assembly of Text.  We often visit Joseph's family on the west coast and I always find time to pop in and stock up on new postcards, envelopes and rubber stamps.  They also host a monthly Letter Writing Club; a night filled with tea, cookies and typewriters! Oh, how I wish I could attend..

Aside from lots of postcard-writing while on holidays I hadn't sat down in a long while to write letters.  This past weekend I wrote fifteen letters which looked pretty sweet stacked up before I popped them in the mail!

good things

1. Italy.  Two weeks and 2100 kilometers of roadtripping.  Turquoise water. Swimming daily.  Eating fresh artichokes, figs, watermelon and tomatoes. (And so much gelato!)
2. Vancouver.  One week and two shoots.  Sunny days and blackberry picking. Bowling and root beer.  Lovely late summer days on the west coast.
3. Baked a ginger cake.  Made honey granola.  Back in the kitchen.
4. The Wedding Co's fun afternoon with a talk by Abby of Style Me Pretty and a gallery opening.
5. Celebrated pal-sac's first birthday at Toronto's First Post Office.  Wrote a letter with quills and ink.  Sealed it with red wax.

incoming mail

My mailbox was bursting with mail after my three week absence.  These are just a few of the goodies that delighted me upon my return.  Green tea from Merissa and the cutest little bunny card from Alison.

home sweet home

Back from a whirlwind three weeks of travelling.  Got in some serious beach time in southern Italy and then a few shoots in Vancouver.  Lovely to be back home.
