This is the official diamond jubilee permanent stamp. I picked up a booklet of ten stamps a few weeks ago and have been slowly warming up to them.

On a side note, when I went to mail a few letters yesterday the mailbox was full! Like, so full that it wouldn't budge an inch. I ended up walking to the next closest mailbox to send the letters. Is this a sign that people really are sending more mail? I hope so!

It included a glittery Mexican postcard from Tara, a handmade sewn card from Laura, a hot pink bear card from Rhya (which was returned to sender and then happily resent), a special delivery from Tanya, tiny paper sunshine from Rhya and a letter written on beautiful Italian stationery from Jessica.

2012 marks the Queen's diamond jubilee. Canada Post is celebrating her sixty year reign with five stamp mini-panes. They're stamp-on-stamp designs that use an original stamp design. I really like seeing the new stamp side by side with the original. Love that 4 cent-er! It was issued in 1953 to commorate the Queen's coronation.

Valentine's Day is definitely on my mind. And it's only January! This is one of the perforated mini cards in my stash of Valentine stationery. I always loved giving and receiving these little cards when I was in primary school.

It's that time of year again: wedding planning season! The shows are on and I'm looking forward to attending The Wedding Co Show this weekend at the Carlu. (My favourite show in town!) Being a wedding photographer makes me very familiar with the shows.

Late last year Chantal at Papillon Press designed an invitation based on the Twilight characters. I stamped up the envelope and think the final suite is just so pretty.

I came across this article in the paper on Saturday. A tiny post office in Christmas Island, Nova Scotia has a sought after postmark. So much so that they receive bundles of mail (addressed and affixed with the proper postage) from all over the world to receive the Christmas-themed postmark. How wonderful to hear of other lovers of all things philatelic!

Toronto has been experiencing autumn/winter/autumn weather lately. One day a windbreaker is fine and the next a peacoat and mittens are needed. These 1971 first day covers are the newest addition to my postal collection.

provincial postage booklets

When I came across these mini provincial postage booklets I was instantly smitten. Issued in 1982, each booklet contains four maple leaf stamps. Printed on the back of each is a legislative building fact. For example, Regina - Governor General Earl Grey laid the cornerstone of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in 1909.

Joey and I were strolling through Termoli's town centre during a beach break and happened upon a little flea market. The piazza was filled with vintage everything - including these super cool postcards from my family's neck of the woods. I'm always interested in the backs of postcards. My favourite post office in town is Toronto's First Post Office on Adelaide near Jarvis. It's part working post office, part museum. You can buy your stamps, write a letter, seal it with wax and feel like it's not 2011. I think it's high time I get back over there.

A full and pretty mailbox really keeps me going during our busy season. Some treats this past week include a geisha print and two letters from Tanya, a zine dedicated to bunnies from Rhya and a caterpillar card from Phillipa. (Eric Carle does the best painted paper collages!)

I stamped up a batch of these cards so they're at the ready to welcome new babies. Lots of little ones are on their way this year amongst our friends!

blue letters

Sometimes a girl just needs to make envelopes. That's one of the ways that I relax. (Grab a great big sheet of paper and cut away!)

On Monday night, while our soup was simmering on the stove, I made these blue letters. The paper is from The Regional Assembly of Text - a gift from my friend Liz. I love how the zodiac stamps look on them!

My husband and I had the best time shooting Alison and Tyler's country wedding in early August! I couldn't help myself from stamping up their invitation's envelope with some vintage beauties.

This lovely letter came from Tara in Washington state. It was filled with vintage stamps, Irish air mail stickers, a recipe for soda bread (must try it soon!) and a letterpress card printed by her very own press Ephemera. What a treat! Thanks Tara!
